LENT BOOKS

This year the Archbishop of Canterbury invited the famous Roman Catholic Dominican Fr Timothy Radcliffe OP to write his Lent book Why go to Church? The Drama of the Eucharist. Fr Timothy writes: ‘The Eucharist is a three part drama froming us in faith, hope and love.’ In his book he examines what it means to celebrate the Eucharist. As an Anglican parish with the Eucharist at the very centre of our life together, this would be a good read for many of us. Cost £9.99.

For families, children and young people there is: Love life, live Lent!Available as children’s version or adult and youth version, offering 40 simple actions to do throughout Lent. Also for families is Patrick Coughlan’s book After the Pancakes!

Other ‘adult’ books on offer include Fr Kevin Scully’s book Into your hands – encountering the touch of God. Fr Kevin is a memberof the Society of Catholic Priests and Parish Priest of S Matthew’s Bethnal Green in the East End of London. A former actor, Fr Kevin always writes with warmth and humanity. (I am biased though, as he is a friend of mine!)

The Great ‘I am’ – David Adam – write on the Celtic tradition offers a Lent based course on helping us find the living God who is present and with us now.

There are many other Lent books, some of which can be found on the Church House Bookshop website: www.chbookshop.co.uk . Do take a browse and find a good read for Lent. I will buy a selection for you to browse at the back of church next Sunday. Fr John
