Alpha
We will be running another Alpha course in September, contact Ashley Jones, Alan Harrison or Mike/Ann Kelsey for details/

Alpha courses have now been run at St. Paul's since 1996 and whilst the numbers attending individual courses may seem small, as we look around the Sunday morning congregation, it is encouraging to see that a good proportion of the people have at one time or another attended Alpha.

Alpha has also been one of the major outreach programmes of St. Paul's during this period and quite a number of our new worshippers have come via the Alpha courses.

We have run Alpha courses in the evening, during the daytime, for adults and for children, and we are now at the stage that second generation leaders and helpers are now running the course. This has allowed us to rectify one of our main failings of the past, which has been the failure to offer follow on courses to the members of the Alpha courses which are coming to an end. We have just launched a course entitled "Principles of Prayer" designed to run alongside the Alpha course, open to everyone, but specifically to encourage Alpha members to continue meeting in a Christian context once the course is over.

Alpha is essentially about establishing and deepening our relationship with God and most attendees have felt that it has helped this process; additionally new friendships have been established with fellow Christians.

Alpha is of lasting benefit, change and giving purpose to many lives.

'J-Club'

Children’s Church is now called ‘J-Club’. We meet each week apart from the first Sunday in the Month when we have a Family Mass. Parents are asked NOT to take their children to the Children’s Corner at church, but to have them sit with you up unto the end of the Collect. The children are then invited to come to the front of the Church. We then say a special prayer for the children and their work in ‘J Club’.

If you would like more information about J-Club, please contact the Parish Office or just come along and meet us.

1st Oakingham Guide Unit
We are the youngest members of the Guiding Movement and members are between 5 and 7. We meet on a Tuesday afternoon in the Parish Rooms between 5.00 and 6.15pm.

We play and work together the emphasis being firmly on fun and an introduction to Guiding.

We join with Brownies, Guides and Rangers with the major events but there is not a structured programme as with the older units.

We have a waiting list for new members and are always willing to add new names to our list.

Most of our girls go on to join Brownies at the age of 7, but again, there is a separate waiting list.

We are usually in need of leaders willing to spare a couple of hours each week and this is a great way to make new friends.

Come and join us.

We try to vary our programme over the year to include speakers, demonstrations, beetle drive, entertainment and an outing in September.
